    hi guys

searched around the forum but couldnt get definitive info on when the new cards of nvidia and ati are coming out
i was waitibg for the asus kb 51 a with a 4860 but it never came out
i also saw that the new invidia drivers have support for the next gen nvidia mobile cards (300's), wonder when this will be out too.
im looking to getting a laptop late this year or sometime next year, wondering if this will coincide with my time of purchase

The 4860m should be out any day now, though, TMSC having issues with the 40nm process has likely had some effect on the release.

Also, do not forget that the Nvidia 300m series will match up with ATIs 4000 series, but rather their 5000 series. The new 200ms should be out quite soon ( within the next month or two ), but I dont expect any 300m or 5000m GPUs until late spring of 2010 at the earliest.

I think all the new 2xx series are below the GTX 280M, though there are reports of a GTX 285M in the nVidia drivers list. Don't count on it being much more than an overclocked version of the GTX 280M though.

I dont know, im thinking ( or hoping rather ), that the GTS 200m series and lower were a practice run and the GTX 260m and 280m are just there to keep the crown. Im thinking that if the GTS 200m series is good ( as in, trying to make it is not a disaster ), then Nvidia will follow suit with the high end series and based them off of the GT200 core. This all hope though, and the past has proven you correct ( rebadging and die shrink + overclocking ).

With favorable yields and TSMC finally getting it right with their 40nm nodes, I'm expecting those new cards to be out by October. At any rate, for this year the GPUs that would be worth a look would be those GDDR5 cards-GTS 260/250M from Nvidia & Radeon 4860 from ATI. I'm just confused why some 40nm cards, especially the 240M have been out while from either side of the spectrum hasn't.
