    Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T7500
with 2gb RAM and XGA monitor

    Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T7250
with 3gb RAM and SXGA+ monitor with TrueLife

which do you think will make the most difference in how new games such as CoD and Crysis run on my notebook? because of the amount of money i'm willing to spend, i can only get one of those two configurations, both of which will come with the 8600m gt graphics card.

2.0 GHz Core 2 Duo is more than enough.

that helps a lot, thank you. the extra ram and higher resolution monitor will be really nice, but i was worried that the slower processor would have a negative impact on games.

It will have a very small effect on games. If the two options have the same GPU, then I'd get the 7500 and 2 GB of RAM. It's easy to upgrade RAM later if you ever need more than 2 GB.

But in general, you will see a very very small difference between the two setups in gaming performance.

remember the cache difference between the cpus is GREAT. I'd definitely go with the first choice

The biggest impact on gaming performance will be based on the GPU installed in your laptop. That 2.2Ghz CPU is nice and all, but if it's paired with an x3100 intel chip, you can forget about playing Crysis or CoD4. Make sure your laptop has at least an 8400M. But I would really recommend an 8600GT and up.

Currently, 8600M GT with 256MB DDR3 is the best GPU you can have in a 15" laptop. That could change soon, however, with the 8800M comming out soon.
