I'm trying to figure that out as I got 25 bux gift card for target that I can burn on a game, but I prefer one that many people play it online, so that it would be fun for quite some time.

is there an older game that people still play a lot ? .... like COD:MW2, or battlefield 2, or something like that ?

I believe I can play pretty much anything at 1024x768 as my GPU while small is still at 55% overclock :D

I usually play Unreal Tournament 3, but we can barely fill one server (of 24) per night. I guess other people play it during the day from Europe, but it doesn't fit my time.

I remember actual TF2 before it went free to play and became loot driven and only relied on skill.

I haven't played TF2 in a while so this is new to me. Are some weapons overpowered and easy mode or something?

I know they added a lot of vanity items and a couple sets of new weapons.

Seems like it to me, im sure others will disagree but some weapons feel clearly more powerful and "cheap" and as a person that only stops in to play now and then the playing field no longer feels level and has turned what used to be one of the greatest arena combat games into a MMO grind.

The new pyro flamethrower takes W+M1 to a new level. Air blast is completely removed and replaced instead by a crit boost function. I think I might just go on vanilla servers from now on.

It probably depends on what kind of game you are looking for:

    Shooter? BF3 and MF3
RPG: Still Wow or Single Player Skyrim

and so on, most choices were already named here.

lolwut. How much time have you actually spent playing? TF2 has an abundance of new items, sure, but you're not missing out if you don't have any of them. I guarantee anyone can do just as well with a 100% vanilla loadout as they would be able to with any unlockable. I very rarely use any non-stock weapons, and one of them is a reskin of the stock minigun. Ask any competitive-level TF2 player, and they will tell you that stock weapons, or unlocks that don't differ from stock too greatly, are the best overall.

I'm not saying it's perfect; there are a few weapons that could use tweaking, but historically speaking Valve has been good about patching balance issues. Overall, they've done a good job of avoiding a pay-to-win scenario in TF2.

Besides, it's not like weapons are exactly difficult to come by. You get them randomly dropped every so often, and you can craft them into different ones if you don't like what you get. Or you can trade with other players, or just buy it outright for 99 cents.

That would be epic indeed, but there are actually so many things that would need to be added, corrected, limited in order for it to be a fully functional online game. The result would probably be too chopped to bits to be enjoyable.

A good example of this would be Oblivion's multiplayer mod.

Yes and no. Valve does eventually get round to patching poorly balenced weapons, but it usually takes them a good few months to get round to it (look at the enforcer, still OP and released a few months ago). The problem is that they don't play test the weapons enough. They also seem to be going to way of replacing weapons with gradually more powerfull ones (eg stock bonesaw vs solemn vow) to get people to buy them. Then there's also the fact that it's quickly becoming solo fortress 2 rather than team fortress 2 with the new weapon styles coming out (eg things like how a pyro is no longer viable round an engie nest).

TF2 is still a great game, I would just prefer it if it stayed team focused and to the point rather than wasting time with things like hats. However they do release a few good weapons every now and then and make sense (for example the jag, while a little pointless in most scenarios, will let an engie do engie things slightly more easily while at the same time he still has to rely on other players. Compare this to the new engie primary which essentially means he can deal with spies and ubers on his own).

so I've been checking youtube videos of the games that you all posted here, and so far:

    - skyrim: not really online play I guess, therefore so so
    - Dota 2: kinda like WoW, so somewhat mehh
    - Star Craft 2: - seems ok but I would prefer C&C like 5:1 against this one.
    - Team Fortress 2: - now you're talking :D Game seems lots of fun to play online, will have to check it out further. Most likely will try to get it as well.

is there anybody that would suggest Enemy Territory: Quake Wars ?

P.S. I'm not really into army type games so CoD and BF will be ruled out.

EDIT: --- is there something that I'm missing or TF2 is free to download and play online ? ... omg ?!?!?!! ... all over it right now

EDIT2: can not seem to be able to find where to download it for free, rather than the steam thingy that I dont have .. any help ?

Yep, TF2 has been free-to-play for several months now.

You do need a Steam account to play, and the game is downloaded and launched via the Steam client, but that's all free. Just register and download Steam at Welcome to Steam

Is that the co-op mod you're talking about? I've heard very good things about it.

I personally am playing a lot of BF3. Keep trying to find the time to activate my 30 day trial for EVE Online. Just can't find the time I need from work. BF3 is so convenient for a quick play when I can spare an hour or two.

The old Republic - 1-2 hours every other day or so.
Battlefield 3 - 2-4 hours on the weekend.

Is it me or does it seem as I get older I am not as much enthusiastic or full of excitement when going to play a game as I used to. I also find myself having to play with friends or I get bored/dis-interested very quickly. I'm only 22 >.>
