I'm a big fan of RTS and FPS, and I'm having trouble trying to decide whether I should get Battlefield Bad Company 2 or wait for Starcraft 2. What would you guys do?
I dont want to get both because I don't want to be too preoccupied with games. I feel obliged to play all games I have, so I only want one game.
Also, I only want 1 game because I want to invest most of my time into just one game instead of splitting it between two (so that I can get good at a game much faster) Also, I'll spend less money then. Right now, I have cs and tf2 and bf2, so I guess I could not get BC2.
What do you guys think Battlefield bad company 2's lasting appeal (staying power) will be? Do you think it will last as long as CoD4?
I did play the first starcraft. For me, it wasn't as memorable as other RTS games though, I don't know why. I do enjoy a good RTS game though, like AoE2 or supcom.
But then again, once the end of the year rolls around (which is when SC2 will probably come out), I might become "too old" for games (though I doubt it), and might stop playing games completely. In that case, it'd be better for me to just get BC2 right now and enjoy it while I still like gaming.

I don't know about Starcraft, I never played them.
But I really want to get Bad Company 2 "I loved the demo".
It has the staying power to run with the CoD series, but to compare the 2 games is like comparing water to dirt.
IMO, they are 2 very different games "Yes, they are both FPS's, but are very different game styles".
What I mean by game style is, in CoD, it's pretty much little teamwork unless you are playing with friends "everyone is usually off doing there own thing, regardless the game type", and BC2 is very team oriented.
In CoD, anything can happen, and I mean anything. Especially in MW2, the game is SO random at times, it's ridiculous. And if you have played it as much as I have, you will know what I mean.
But BC2 is a lot different. I haven't played the full game yet (don't have money to buy it), but when I was playing the demo, it was awesome. There is a lot happening, but you have time to hang back and judge the situation before you react, unlike CoD where if you don't react right away, your dead.
Didn't mean to get off topic a bit, but between those 2 games, I would go with BC2. -
Oh man that is an impossible question to answer. I have Starcraft 2 on pre-order, just bought Bad Company 2 last week. BC2 is REALLY fun, but I played the original Starcraft longer than i've played almost any other game.
Blizzard games have always been great and stand the test of time, also they tend to support games longer (heck they are still working on one more patch for Diablo 2!).
Both can be enjoyed with friends, and both can be played casually. Couldn't you buy BC2....play it a few months, then buy Starcraft 2 when it comes out?
Either way it's a win win! -
Yeah, I would agree with Jones about BC2. I just finished the game and it was awesome. The game was worth spending your time. I haven't tried Starcraft yet. One thing to mention though, the team you're gonna go through the game with seems quite odd since they never die even a big rocket hit them. They tumble down, get up and keep shooting.
But anyway, the game is great for me and hope for you too -
Bad company 2 is awesome especially online, so good it made me upgrade my laptop!
so cheap too only 25 pounds

that is if you have the bandwidth to download it -
I'll go with Starcraft 2 because I always prefer a good RTS more than a good FPS. BC2 online is good but like other shooters it's starting to get boring for me.
(maybe it's just me coz FPS seems to bore me faster while I tend to play a good RTS (such as CoH & DoW2) for a long time before I get bored...)
I also agree that CoD are way too random. -
I would like to buy Bad Company2 because this game is so much better than COD MW2 the story is cooler, guns are way better and the overall experience is way better! There is hilarious dialogue, with a compelling and believable story, gritty and realistic shooter action,

SC2 isn't gonna be released until the end of the year, there is a good chance you'll have stopped playing BC2 by then.
-
2) Finish or get bored of it.
3) Buy the next one.
Sounds reasonable, no?? -
As for the appeal. If you look at what kind of masses that have played the BF-series through the years, I think it's safe to say that this is a game that a lot of people will play for a long long time. Until BF3 comes out

Yea bad company 2 definitely. Amazing game, very fun and is just a blast to play with some friends on vent. My clan and I play it all the time and every game is a blast and very intriguing to play.
Don't get discouraged at first though, play it and get the red dot and acog scope and the game just gets better from there on in. -
bad company 2 rocks. am not into strategy games myself very much tho.
they are not even the same genre. i'd say go for both.. -
SC2 will be around long after BC2 and more than likely BC3 (if there is one). Ive played the Beta and the 10+years of waiting werent for nothing; it is amazing.
If you are a fan of the original and RTS in general, Id go for SC2. And like another poster said, it is a Blizzard game so of course it will be (is) good. -
well if BC2 is only going to last for a couple of months, I don't think I might get it then. I was hoping that it will last a long time, just like BF2, TF2, and CoD4 did.
Initially, I was looking forwards to just buying battlefield 3, but that's a long way off and I don't want to wait that long.
Also, I'm a big fan of RTS games. I'm looking forward to a really good RTS game, and I was hoping Supcom2 would be it. Turns out that it sucked. Maybe starcraft 2? From what I remember though, starcraft 1 didn't stand out that much for me. I played it multiple times, but never came back to it (heck, I even forgot that I had actually played starcraft at one point). I don't know why I didn't keep on playing it. I do enjoy a good RTS game though (loved AoE2, Supcom1 was great, too bad the second one wasn't as good, CC3 tiberium wars was ok too). -

You can get SC2 at any time. It's not gonna get old anytime soon. SC2 will probably still be popular by the time your BC5 comes out. So get BC2 now, and SC2 later, there's no hurry

after reading that, I pretty much decided what I'm gona get lol.
which of these 2 games would you buy?
