want to clean out my old nvidia drivers and try new ones. is driver sweeper worth the 10 bucks or use the freebie, driver cleaner? Which is better or do they both perform the same functions? one clean better than the other?

anybody know a good driver for a 8600GT mainly for crysis?

Just uninstall the driver yourself. It's free!

169.09 has been one of the favorites, especially for Crysis.

Yeah, I just use the included uninstall utility provided by the drivers. They show up in the Windows Add/Remove panel. As long as no errors occur and the uninstall goes smoothly, you shouldn't encounter any issues. Just remember to restart before installing a new driver. Ideally, the uninstaller will have you restart automatically.

I've never used any driver removal software and have never had a problem.

well i tried to purchase driver cleaner from their website last week and I was denied. I don't know why. I have a full time job. I think I can afford 10 bucks. Anyways, I sent 3 emails to them asking why and they won't respond back. Piss poor customer service I think

So I was reading up on driver sweeper. I installed it on my laptop. Well, uninstall my old nvidia drivers from the uninstall/ change program. Rebooted the computer in safe mode and then used the driver sweeper program. I clicked on the nvidia driver in the left column and transfered it over to the right side. I hit the sweep icon. How long does it take to clean up old driver files. The program seemed take a second and it was over. Does it suppose to go that quick? The blue scroll bar turned blue in less than a second. DId the program work? Is that normal? I have a dell xps 1530 vista 32bit.
    Thanks for the previous feedback

If you already ran the driver uninstaller before running Driver Sweeper then there were not very many files left for Sweeper to clean up! It probably just had to dump 2 registry entries and a cab file. Sounds reasonable for that to happen within 1 second.

Only choose display if it's just Nvidia graphics drivers you want to get rid of!

I have not had any problems uninstalling the drivers in Add/Remove programs before; unless you are having issues, I would just do that. Simple + easy. Just make sure you follow the driver guide and you'll be fine:

Oh, I did that once --> Chipset + Display :p Luckily nothing happened.

Oh Chaz, I follow your guide exactly, just run sweeper after that. Thanks!
