you own a 7970m and the 780m comes out so you buy that. does this not prove consumerism is working and people are being herded like farm animals by the likes of amd intel nvidia. tbph high and ultra differances while playing can only be noted by a genius, who here is a genius for statistical representation at a later date?

Um, people want the newest technology available?

It's also widely accepted on here that the 8970(use relevant information if you're going to wine), is just as capable if not more in some games as the 780.

Guess the accurate question here is, why u mad tho?

Some people want to stay on the cutting edge of tech. That's their choice.

Some people want to buy flagship GPUs because they want to play on high settings for awhile. I bought my 7970m because I wanted to game for at least 2-3 years on high/ultra settings. Not sure if that's going to be possible but it's still worth it because I'll get a good deal of use out of this chip.

If you have extra money , you would rather have the fastest (or newest) model when ever you can.

Some people have more money than patience.

Sometimes people like getting new things for bragging rights as well.

Because they are willing and able to do so. They may not need to, but if they can and want to, why not?

I'm sure there are some out there who just do it for bragging rights. It is what it is.

Some people have enough disposable income to buy the tech that they want. Why is this a problem for you? Do you also have a problem with BMW, Ferrari, yachts, large mansions?

Also, it would be pretty helpful if you spelled your words correctly.

Total War: Rome 2 wants words..

    From notebookcheck.net on 9/13
    Extreme preset, 1080p
    680M 27 fps
    780M 34 fps

That's a 25% increase, and that means quite a bit when you're at that fps range as far as smoothness perception.

People buy it because they love high performance portable computing as a hobby and have the money to get the best. The end.

I bought the 7970m at the time because it was a "flagship" performance GPU that didn't have the flagship price to go along with it. Anything less wouldn't have really fit my needs, which was a laptop I could game on - but also have it run AutoCAD and SolidWorks with a fair amount of competence. Granted because the drivers are not approved by the programs for the 7970m, there are certain features that I can not utilize at this time. But I also am not in a point in my schooling where these features are necessary or even understood! lol Once that time arrives, I will look at a true professional workstation class card that will have the drivers to allow said features to be enabled.

Until then i have a GPU that can game with the best of them yet has the computational power these programs require that far exceeds the Team Green offerings until you get into the very expensive workstation class cards. For me, its as close as I can get to Having my cake and eating it too!

Not really a open minded question...

"does this not prove consumerism is working and people are being herded like farm animals"

"high and ultra differances while playing can only be noted by a genius, who here is a genius for statistical representation at a later date?"

"respond with the reasons with basis vs the obsession with owning transistors"

I don't mind answering serious questions, but this one just wanted to show how smart he was by not upgrading. I always assume that if someone is doing something I don't, that they must have a reason, they must have figured out something that I hadn't. Therefore they know something I don't.

The i7-4960X and 4930MX , not the 4930K though, that actually makes a lot of sense for some people. So I disagree with you somewhat.

4930k is not extreme. It is 6-core. 4960X is Extreme.

When i say Extreme, i mean a CPU with an X in the part name

The 4820K is a cooler-running version of the 4770K, and it supports more PCIe-lanes for those who multisli.

A 6 core processor, 4930k is useful in rendering jobs to save time, as it is technically 1.5x the 4820k or 4770k.

    The 4960X is a 4930k with 3 extra MB of L2 for 400$ more.

Give it a rest, why are you still going after this? You think I don't know this stuff? Class is not in session today, thank you very much.

And you are completely wrong, 4820K isn't even Haswell, it's Ivy Bridge, not to mention completely different socket and chipset from the mainstream platform. Fail.

Yeah, because i am totally not speaking performance wise?

The 0.2ghz difference give the 4820k a passmark score of approx 800 higher than the 4770k.

    Intel Core i7 4770K vs I7 4820k
