i dont want to have a big console war. but i just want to know why everyone likes computer games best over the ps3 and 360.
i like it because i want to push my computer to its limits. i love the hole fan blowing heavy cpu at 98%(efficiently)
what are your reasons
edit: that question maybe made no sense. i meant to askwhat are somethings that computer games have that console dont, isnt the same, or wont ever be available on consoles

My laptop just happens to be powerful enough to play games, and I don't own a 360 or a PS3... I have a Wii
So all the games I miss out on the 360 I can usually play on PC -

i have a 360 so it's some time hard to decided what system i want to get it for because the 360 has acheivement points. but i end up getting pc because i want to push my computer
-
Because computers are 1337er than consoles?! Duh.
-
Mouse + keyboard
'nuff said.
But after I got my desktop i like to see what it can do. -
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
you like the mouse and key board i cant get use to it
-
masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
you can't play counter strike source on a console.
-
yeah... i have a 360. i like that a game will play for certain on it.. and i don't have to adjust settings and all that stuff... and take up hd space on my notebook.... just put it in.. and 30 seconds later i'm playing
i've never really been a computer gamer.. though i do have a couple sims.. FS9 and Virtual Skipper 5
and mouse and keyboard is terrible for any game.
controller.. 'nuff said -

I play on a computer because online play tends to be better on a pc and I like the customization of a computer. I have personalized my laptop a bit so it looks different (although it's already a bit of a unique machine)
-
Because KartRider and GunBound are computer games.
-
platform games like god of war would suck on a pc.
best games ive played on my ps3 were the sports games nba and nfl, racing and rpgs and hopefully god of war 3,
i use my pc for first person and rts much easier with mouse and keyboard -
Grew up playing PC games with a mouse and keyboard, console games are fun but the controls kill half the fun for me and I never got into the console craze since I never owned one growing up either.
-
Totally agree with you on that lokster. Nothing can come close to fps/rts/mmo than playing a high-end laptop with mouse and keyboard.
On the other hand, my ps3 hooked with my 46" LCD, 7.1 surround bose and comfy couch is about as close to nirvanna as it gets. And as soon as GT5 comes out with the new driving wheel, well let's just say I may get divorced. Even tiger woods 08 looks great. -
Why? Console controllers. Can't stand the darn things, and never will...
-
because i needed a computer for school and i couldnt afford both a computer and a console, so i got away from console gaming and got into computer games
-
Impossible to play FPS and RTS with retarded joysticks..
but for sports its great, but you can plug a joystick in the comp and play the same game on PC so why console dunno, only reason is no installation no tinkering with settings and stuff.. -
can't afford a TV
-
mouse and keyboard is the only way to go.

i also use it to play 720p because i dont have hdtv

The great thing about laptops and me in computer gaming is that it is mobile, I can go here and there with it.
Also I am a console gamer beacuse some games are better here while I like RTS games in Computer. -
Does anything like Hearts of Iron, Falcon 4.0 AF, Harpoon, Dangerous Waters, Point of Attack 2, Operational Art of War 3, or IL-2 Sturmovik exist on consoles?
-
I like all those kinds of games too.
Most console games are too "arcady" or "simplified" for me (although Frontlines changed that attitude a bit). Plus still can't get used to the controller. I only played a handful of games to completion on my old XBOX or XBOX 360. But as much as I've played, I still can't get myself to feel comfortable with a console gamepad. -
I don't have tv nor do I need one.
-
They do have some very good 3rd person action, adventure, and sports games, but for anything more....mature, PC is where it's at. -

dont forget about crysis
-
i personally dont like to use my thumbs on the game pads. i feel that i have more control with a keyboard and mouse
-
it's hardly the end-all be-all of FPS. -
im a sucker for eyecandy so graphics wise computers win. and computers i think have better control with the mouse and keyboard...to me anyways.
-
I play on computer cause here it is cheaper, the pc games costs about half console games and a good computer and a game console costs about the same.
I also like the keyboard+mouse and do some tweaking to get the games running fine. -
I have a 360 but find myself prefering certain games now on the PC because I can finally play them. Mainly because the graphics are better, the framerates are higher, standalone servers, and cheaper prices.

I don't actually play FPS, I just play RTS games because I find shooting too awkward, plus, strategy games aren't on consoles (like Stronghold and Empire Earth)
EDIT: Oh yeah, I can't take a console around like a laptop. -
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
how is playing with a keyboard and mouse better than a controller
-
I never grew up with consoles so I can't get in to them at this point in my life. Everytime I try to use a console controller it feels awkward to me and I end up getting owned/frustrated when I play others in FPS.

Umm, you have more commands on a keyboard, but I find it to be annoying since I can't move my fingers across a keyboard that fast.

The somethings that I think I want to play consoles more is that
1. We have 4 controllers and 1 big LCD TV(We like playing together)
2. Laptops do not have good RPG
3.Consoles are cheaper!!!!!!! -
I own a computer and a console because it's the cheapest way to go. I update my console once every five years, and can then afford to buy the latest and greatest in notebook technology.
Plus, It's easier to invite a few people round for a game on my PS3 than it is to invite them round for a game on my PC. -
1) Better precision of the mouse VS the controller.
2) Better control in response with the mouse VS the controller. The main problem here is that the stick in the controller even though sensitive has very few degrees for each kind of sensitivity (move the stick a little and slow movement, more is normal movement, push it to the end and is fast.... and all that in ~45° or less of freedom). -
Well I think the true deciding factor for a lot of people is "$". Simply put a console is cheaper and more accessable for everyone, and more people can play it once (more social, most people do not LAN).
Now me, well here is why I like computers better:
1 machine does everything (productivity work, gaming, communication, TV, movies...hell everything)
Tweaking...I love messing with hardware.
Much better GFX (you pay more, but we all know a console can't hold a candle to high end GFX cards...yeah it costs more, but hey it's better)
Keyboard+mouse, more options, precision control. -
Pretty much what atc said.
This is the first time I've really had a high-end computer so even while i'm gaming i can minimize and look at a guide (or thottbot during WoW) and push my games to their prettiest limits. Don't get me wrong i love consoles for parties and gaming with friends at my place, but online is generally much better on PC (microsoft made improvements to XBL though). Plus Mouse is SOOOOOOO much better than a control stick for fps', which are my main games. And with keyboard theres many configuration options to be used, you can make it as comfy and convenient as you want. -
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
even though it true money is a big factor if you like computer game more and are determend, you will find a way to get a cheap gaming copmuter and just change parts until you're happy(which for most people never).
i also like push my computer to its limits -
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
jp but im going to try a game using the keyboard and mouse to see what everypne means -
-
i like computer hardware and being able to customize my rig. i find computers to be more useful and I like playing FPS's, and a keyboard+mouse is best for that IMO!
-
You can connect Gamepad to your computer But you cant connect Mouse to a console..
Looking around in Console based games is so hard..the Joystick moves at constant speed.. it doesnt accelerate -
