    hey folks,
not totally sure where this post should go, but here goes:
have a dv9500t installed XP (using the latest driver pack..165.01 nvidia drivers for my 8600M GS) trying to use a widescreen monitor via HDMI. The problem I am having is that every resolution even the native resolution appears too wide on all sides. I have not been able to find any options (monitor settings or driver settings) to fix this. Any idea?
    Thanks

Sounds like an overscan issue. It's a thing with the TV, not the laptop.

Yeah I dont know what you mean by appears to wide i guess you mean part of the screen goes off the edges of your viewing area, this is probably overscan from the TV, you have to find drivers that support overscan correction. Hack your registry for a partial manual fix, or find a tv/monitor that doesnt have overscan or an option to turn it off.

Most modern tvs have a pc mode with no overscan, or have an option to turn it off.
