Yes, it will. if you want it to work better, upgrade to the 8400 GS or the even better 8600GT

With the 3100 you may get medium settings, but most likely low with raids

the 8400 GS would get medium high settings

the 8600GT would be all max maybe a little lenient on the AA and AF

Raid is two harddrives where one has all the information and the other is the backup for the first one.

With the 3100, no, there wouldn't be a ton of lag at those settings. Just be careful with massive raids (Oh sorry, a raid in WOW ((which I've never played)) is where 20 or more players charge after something like a city or something) I thought you were referring to the computer RAID.

yes. I'm just stating for your help, an 8400GS would be a MUCH better consideration than an integrated card (the x3100 is integrated)

If you plan on playing any games (except wow) that were made 2 years ago, that thing will be able to play, but it will have trouble.

There are 3 threads for reference. the first is the 8400GS gaming thread
the second is how the x3100 isn't an acceptable video card
the third is the x3100 video gaming thread.

Since the x3100 is integrated, you can't upgrade. I dont believe the 8400 GS is upgradeable. Trust me, for an investment, get the 8400 or 8600. You won't regret it

If you really want to go hardcore gaming, upgrade the processor to a T7250, but it won't make alot of diff unless you play crysis.

trust me, its worth the wait to buy the machine with a dedicated gpu if you want to play games with it.

Honestly, think of the 8600 gt as approximately on par with this generation of console graphics (xbox360, ps3), whereas the intel integrated card is really not meant for gaming at all. Its more like an original xbox or ps2, or maybe worse.

    oh...

"no im going to buy it from dell and install it"

you generally cannot upgrade graphics cards in laptops...

No no no, you can game. IF you've already ordered the laptop with the x3100, you're screwed. If you select the 8600GT or 8400GS option, it's installed by them and it will work like the 8600GT card should

Darn you beat me to it crimson!

Hmmm i'm seeing a breakdown in communication somewhere along the lines here.

What is being said is when you customize it from dell it comes as you ordered it, no assembly required like you would with a desktop.

So, say you decide to go with the 8600gt that is what it will ship with, sometimes adding such custom options will delay the date it ships because DELL themselves is putting it together as you ordered it online.

Now Crimson is trying to help you see that if you choose the 8600gt that is what you get, it will run any game out there to a certain degree often at high settings depending on the game.

So you CAN game on the notebook if you choose a faster video card and if you have extra money a faster processor.

However the x3100 is a much slower (and completely different) class of card, it will struggle with more recent games. It will play World of Warcraft at low to medium settings, but in largely populated you may notice a slow down or skipping due to the heavy load.

Any further questions post away and we will try and help you.

Umm... no you can't plug it in, its integrated and staying that way, ABSOLUTELY NO WAY OF CHANGING THEM OUT. If you recently purchased it, you can always return it back to them and order a new one with the 8600GT. Yes, you can run guild wars with the x3100.

You're stuck with the X3100. I have a feeling you are looking at the desktop version of the Nvidia cards. You cannot upgrade the GPU in any laptop, unless deemed upgradeable.

I meant when he was saying he would order the 8600GT, he was wanting to order the desktop version.
