alright, i just bought this game the other day, and its been giving me trouble ever since. i've got an image file of the WiC dvd stored on the hdd, i mounted it to a virtual drive, and then went to go play it. it would show the mouse icon like it was reading from the cd, but even after 5 minutes it didnt load the game. only after shutting down, restarting, and inserting the actual dvd did it start the game, only taking 2 minutes to load (that time).

i then proceeded to look for a no cd "crack" if you will, for the game. it replaced the wic_online and wic_ds files. i started up wic using wic_online. the game loaded right up no problems, very little wait.

i exited the game, and then proceeded to try loading the game using just the regular wic.exe file...same problem as before. game tries to read from cd, wont load, i have enough time to smoke two cigarrettes before i come back to my computer to find it still trying to load. i shut the system down and restarted.

HELP! (and dont tell me just to use the wic_online file to start the game)

If you plan to play online. The "no-cd" crack will cause you problems. I've tried it and found it keeps kicking me off. When I use my DVD to load, no problems at all. Try getting the updates by using the DVD, these may help your virtual drive loading issue, but I can't promise anything.

i downloaded the latest patch for multiplayer...1.0.0.9 i believe it was...but that doesnt really apply to what i was looking for an answer to. the single player wic taking forever to load (if at all) is aggravating. i've done this with sooo many games to save wear and tear on the cd, and its all worked properly...until now. same virtual drive program too...

Since I only play online I alwasy use the online launcher but yeah, the DVD does take long time to load. I don't remember which authentification software it uses, but this one has difficulties with every games on Vista x64. It happens to me too.

thats kinda sh**ty. i was really looking forward to playing this game without any trouble. looks like that went awry. anybody know how long it should take to load from the disc? i've waited between 5-10 minutes and gotten nothing but a spinning disc icon and a computer thats hung up.

On aveage I wait no more than 20Secs. Before I updated the firmware in my DVD drive I used to wait for 45-55secs before I was watching the intro. 5-10 mins is a long time. I do have "slysoft any dvd" installed so that might also be why mines so quick.

any dvd bypasses the region code of a DVD, this may be causing the loader to bypass the security checks.
Don't forget, keep your harddrive defragmented.

ah ha! valid point...*trots off to find the program*

and i defrag at least once a week using jkdefrag

EDIT: looks like ill have to purchase "any dvd" as im using the trial version right now and wic loaded right up after like 5 to 10 seconds.

EDIT #2: now to test as to whether or not i can create an .iso and mount it in a virtual drive and run it from there *crosses fingers*
