Hello, i was wondering is SCII might be able to be played on a desktop with specs of
    CPU: Athlon 64 3000+
    RAM: 512 mb
    OS: XP Pro
    GPU:GeForce Nvidia 6600

    ALL STOCK NO OVERCLOCKING

i know the specs for SCII arent released yet but if anyone with insight may know... i was thinking to get a cheap notebook instead... maybe rewarding myself at home rather than being distracted outside of home might be more satisfying... and save a few hundred dollars.

You'd need more ram. 2GB probably. If it's anything like Supreme Commander then it'll be cpu intensive and according to the website might require DX10 graphics card. Best to wait until minimum specs are released.

i think 1gb RAM will be fine if you're running XP, 2GB if you're running Vista. I wouldn't worry too much about scalability because Blizzard is usually VERY good at that. They want as many people to buy the game after all. I wouldn't expect them to require a DX10 graphics card either. Maybe if you want it to look nice. But overall, SC II should be playable on many many computers from new to old.

this is blizzard, after all. the same people that brought you WoW. it runs on integrated parts.

to RUN starcraft II in xp, you will probably need 512 megs of ram and one of the more powerful integrated parts.

to run starcraft II decently, you will want a solid gig of ram and a lower end gpu.

to run it really well, a midrange gpu and maybe 2 gigs of ram. thats my prediction.

as the previous post points out-Blizzard will make sure that the ability to play SCII will be scaleable to your machine, and my guess is that your CPU will be able to handle it

as to RAM, memory is cheap enough to get and easy enough to install, that it might be worth adding another 512MB to your second module or simply buying one 2GB stick. you'll probably notice a significant performance difference.
