Hi, im am currently looking to buy my first laptop from dell. I am looking for something that can do some casual gaming (ie WOW and maybe Cs:s). The main video card that dell offers for a 1505 is the x1300 which fits nicely into my buget. This would be on a 1.6 duo system with 1gb ram. My question is will this card fit my needs or should i wait and get the x1400?

I think that i am right in saying that the X1300 card is 64 Mb dedicated, and 64 Mb shared. It's not the best card, but for occasional gaming, and a lower price tag it will suffice. But if you wish to play at higher settings, then a slighly more powerful card may be required.

How hight of settings? Because i normally only play with 1024 x 768 on my desktop and that is plenty for me. I'm not looking for high end resolutions like 1600 x 1200.

yes the x1300 is sufficient enough for wow and cs:s ...but id reccommend the x1400

By high i mean medium or there about. If you play at lower resolutions, and not high settings, then the X1300 will be fine. As long as you don't want super, ultra lookign graphics, and you can bear to run games at acceptable levels, then go for the X1300. The X1400 isn't much more different to an X1300, so either would do really.

For gaming, get the X1400 - even casual gamers will appreciate the extra power.

Oh, so what difference would i see if i just went with a solo 1.83 instead of the duo and then got the x1400? because that would fit into my budget.

A faster processor in the core duo line wont make that much of a difference in gaming.

I would say if your on a budget look at the 5672 with x1600. From newegg its $1079 specs in my sig. For the price it cant be beat, Im guessing similar to what your looking at from dell. I paid $1200 shipped to my door with a 3 year warranty.

The single core processor sacrifice for the graphics card might not be a good idea. Mabye look into a 1210 with a 7400 go, It'll play both CS and WoW in full detail with decent framerates.

well, honestly my budget is around 1k atm. The dell system i was looking has the duo 1.6 1gb ddr2 ram and x1400 will cost me about 850 with tax and all. Hehe, i was just trying to see what i could cut out and still have a laptop that i would be able to utilize. Again thanks for the input guys.

Ahhh I didnt know it was that low. You could always cut the ram to the lowest possible and buy after market if your savvy enough. But the essentials are core duo and dedicated grfx.

    I have the x1300
for games like CSS and Half-life 2
its great, with a few tweaks you can run it maxed out (no AA/AF)(about 30-45fps)
its not stellar but it will run anything you want if you dont mind turning down settings

I would say omega drivers setup correctly and oc'ing may get you a decent 3dmark and gameplay.
