I have just installed MOHAA Breakthrough and have installed the current Catalyst Control Center for my ATI x1600. Everything installed fine, both for the Driver and MOHAA game. I get to the "pre-load screen" (not sure if thats what you call it) then it crashes to windows. I have not been able to view the pre-load screen because it loads too fast, then crashes to Windows. I have tried everything to uninstalling the drivers and installing older versions with no luck. Any ideas?

Still haven't been able to figure this one out. Have been searching Google like crazy to find some answers but most come up with installing a previous driver, but when I try to install a previous one, I receive and error stating that it couldn't find a driver to load. ????
I was thinking that buying an ATI x1600 would be the way to go, but if it can't run my old games it's kinda useless for me needs. -
what r ur system specs, what os do u have? did u try updating the game? medal of honor is a pretty old game. did u try alternate pixel center in ur cotrol options. how bout triple buffering i just know that is for older types of games that use open gl. not sure if moh is an open gl game. does it just crash to windows with no messages or do u get a memory reference error?

I have researching it a little more and found out there is a lot of problems trying to run this game, mostly because it's an old game. I tried to install some older drivers thinking that it would work.
I haven't tried the alternate pixel center as of yet, and I am not too sure what triple buffering or what I would need to do to change it. When it does crash, it first tries to load, and even goes through it's mini pre-load diagnostic window but then crashes immediately after. Windows then supplies an "error report" to send to M$.
I know most people would say, just play an updated game but I totally love this game and probablly wouldn't even need a dedicated GPU to run it. I just thought it would be fun to finally play this game on a system that could actually run it instead of my old desktop that struggled with it. -
After some more research it appears that I can extract the opengl files from 5.6 and then load them in separately for the older games. My question now is how do I extract those files?

Yeah it's a great game alright - especially with the blood patches applied. Shame it doesn't work - seems an unusual problem though, I have no issues running it on x1950 on my desktop - nor did I have any problems running it on my older laptops Ati card - so I don't think that you should have to revert to older files. But if it works for you...

I talked with a few other people and they ran into the same issue not being able to play MOHAA Breakthrough Demo using a higher end ATI card or recent drivers. Many had to install older drivers, but my card will not accept an older driver.
This led me to search for the other possible solution by taking the OpenGL driver from an older driver and inserting it into the game file itself, yet still using the normal updated Catalyst.
Anyone ever done this before? How do you extract one OpenGL driver/file from an older Catalyst? From the link in post #5, it sounds like it's totally possible. -
Just seeing if anyone has anymore info on trying to install separate OpenGL files.

Problem Solved. I followed the directions from another forum that said to install an older version of Catalyst Control Center (in this case an Omega Driver) 5.6 I believe. I then found what I believed to be the OpenGl.dll files after installation. I then removed them and placed them on the desktop for safe keeping.
After I uninstalled the old CCC, I downloaded the new updated CCC/driver. Once the new CCC was up and running I placed the old opengl.dll files directly into the Medal of Honor Breakthrough Demo folder. You also need to rename the file from MOH_breakthrough_demo.exe to MOHBreakthrough.exe.
I crossed my fingers and to my surprise the EA Games load screen popped-up to my delight. Just wanted to share this workaround for lovers of old games and yet a newer ATI GPU. -
Glad to see you sorted it. Moh is a great game. You should put it as a link in your signature for future reference, as I'm sure the problem will pop up again for some other users.
