hey guys, first post, great forum.

have a question about which one is better for gaming. i read Chaz's graphics card comparision post and in the top, it lists the 6800 as better but in the bottom portion, it lists the x1600 as better.. what is the final verdict?

they have fairly similar performance. probably in some the 6800go outperforms the x1600 slightly, and in others, the x1600 outperforms the 6800go.

Their performance is equivalent. The reason why Chaz puts the 6800 "better" is because of their designated markets. The 6800 is marketed as a high-end card, but it's an older generation (akin to Xx00, not X1x00 to which the X1600 belongs to), while the x1600 is a mid-high range card but newer, hence the proximity on performance between them.

From what I have heard the 6800Go has a higher OC ability, but other than that they are comparable. Personally I OC so I like the 6800Go. :p

The X1600 is better than the Go6800; it doesn't quite match it in terms of performance, but it comes in a much smaller form factor, produces less heat, an doesn't use as much power. It's preferable to get an X1600/Go7600 over a Go6800.
