I wasn't sure where to put this topic so im going to try it here. Is it possible to plug a xbox 360 via vga to the laptop in my sig? Or is the vga output only not input?

If you have a way to convert the component cables to coax through some sort of box (they exist, I bought mine at radioshack to plug an original xbox into a cheap tv) and then plug the coax into a TV tuner you should get an output. It won't be hi-def, and likely will not serve you well in games as there is a slight delay in gameplay causing premature death. :) :)

I haven't tried this, though--but it should work.

VGA is only output, to answer your original question.

    Are you sure?

Most laptops have VGA out, not video in. The cable is used for LCD/TFT panels etc.

You will either need a capture card of some sort or a TV tuner with video in.

Hum you may be right. Sorry, still a bit of a noob when it comes to laptops.

However, the vga thing is worth it, esp. since if you get it, you don't need a hddvd or blue ray since it upconverts. And dvd upconverters are $200+...

Thanks for the help, I will get that vga plug soon. But is the HD plugs (red, green, blue) better than the vga, because my tv has both options.

The VGA, in my opinion has better quality, and the component plugs, don't upconvert, while the VGA does. And the VGA port on my computer, doesn't except VGA in, trust me I learned the hard way.

Yes it's always interesting when you try to plug an output device into an output port.

Thanks for the heads up Lappy, Ive decided to buy the vga to test on my tv and compare the difference, the cable is ant too expensive.
