im not sure if this is the right forum, so if it isnt i apologize in advance. i was wondering if it was possible to connect a xbox 360 to a laptop, and use the laptop as the monitor to play on. any information would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, you can, but only if you have a tv tuner, or your notebook accepts video via one of the ports, like Svideo or composite in.

But it won't be in high definition, just 640x480 Standard definition.

ok i see, ive been looking around for a tv tuner, but am not sure what to get. im leaning towards a hybrid. will it need to have a coax to hook up the 360, or is there a different way?

to use a Coax one you need an RF modulator to turn the Xbox360's composite plugs into coax first... all together this would cost you probebly $60+ USD if your notebook doesn't accept composite already.

Is it worth it to you?

oh and yes... ive run my xbox360 on my laptop before, even in standard def it looks nice!

Ah! I found this! which would be perfect.

    This!

I'd assume you can just plug it in and use it with a webcam software like the bison cam software to scale it any size you like.

Mine accepted Svideo in, I don't have the notebook anymore, it broke :( but I was able to just plug in an Svideo to composite adaptor, and ran it using Bison cam, the same software for it's webcam !

And I haven't ever had to use a tv tuner since my desktop had VIVO (video in video out) and so did my laptop.

But this thing looks like it will do the job, mabe you should look up some reviews on it, and $50 isn't that bad an asking price.

I checked out your notebook... and unfortunately while it is amazingly stylish :) It doesn't have any video in ports of any kind. So yea, u'll need an adaptor.

Well, I tried! Too bad you cant just accept video via your HDMI port! That would be nice.. Anyway, hope I helped in some way, and that you get it all working!

I'm not 100% sure how HDMI works but I believe both the Xbox 360 and a notebooks HDMI are outputs, my Asus G1S has HDMI but I believe its just for sending signal to an external monitor, someone correct me if I'm wrong please :)

Is it possible to hook the 360 up through the VGA port on a notebook? Or are they always just VGA out? And although it runs at standard def on the notebook, you reckon it will look better than a standard def tv?
