The XBOX360 drive has an external power adapter...do you have that plugged in to? I know it is a dumb question, but power is the first thing I always look at if it doesn't work.

It may need a special driver, have you installed one for it?

I remember reading Hacking the XBox 360’s HD-DVD for the PC on UnEasySilence. That article mainly talks about Windows XP though.

Anyways, do you have software capable of HD-DVD playback? Windows Media Player doesn't have HD-DVD playback.

Right click on 'Computer' and go to 'Manage'. From there, navigation to 'Disk Management'...look for any drive that does not have a letter...give all you find without a letter a letter. Right click on the drive and select 'Change Drive Letter and Paths'.

Maybe your XBOX360 drive isn't getting assigned a location...this might help.

Right click on the 'left' square part like this...and give it a shot.

Good news is that what you are telling me means that the computer does see the drive...so you have 90% of the battle won.

The guys at Legit Reviews claim to have gotten the XBox 360's HD-DVD drive working in Vista.

It seems like all they did was run Windows Update and Restart. Then the drive was recognized properly and the only other issue with HD-DVD playback would be an HDCP compliant GPU & Drivers.

You need drivers for it, I know of some for XP, but you'll have to do some googling to find Vista ones.

So... has anyone been able to actually find working Vista or XP drivers?

All I see is people saying "Google this" and "Google that...", but nobody who actually provides something useful, like an attachment or a download link.

Seriously... If anyone here knows EXACTLY where the drivers are, please post'em... otherwise, thanks for pointing the obvious... and unfortunately, Gogle has become so ubiquitous these days, that most search results are swamped by useless returns and matches.
