It may that I haven't spent enough time on the subject but I can't seem to find an xbox 360 style headset that goes over just one ear with the microphone for chatting on battlefield or fear combat, etc.

I don't want to hear game sound on the headset, only voice. Most of the headsets out there are 5.1 surround or ones where the game sounds come through the earphones. I want to hear game sounds through my desktop speakers and only get the voice and be able to chat through the headset.. Could someone guide me in the right direction?

This is a limitation of the game and Windows. The sound is made to come out of one set of speakers.

The only substitute (only game voice communication) would be a phone.

The headset i have has a mic and sound cord, so if you have one like that don't plug in the sound. Although mine doesn't wrap around the ears o i can't help you sorry.

I just use the two built in mics and my nice shure headphones. 7.1 virtual surround sound rocks
