how to i go about connecting a xbox 360 to a dvi LCD... and will it display everything right?

Does your Xbox 360 have a HDMI output? If so, you can purchase a HDMI to DVI converter and hook it up.
Does your LCD have a VGA input? If so, you can purchase the VGA kit from Microsoft that will allow you to connect your LCD to your xbox. -
its the standard plug, and yes, but dvi will have better video

Hold up, we're in danger of spreading some misinformation here.
The DVI port requires a digital signal and fortunately the Xbox 360 is capable of outputting digital signals through some of its outputs. The simplest connection would be an HDMI output to to the DVI input on an LCD using an HDMI to LCD cable. However, afaik only the newer Xbox 360 Elites offer an HDMI output. All other Xbox models only have the Component video ouputs available for digital signal output. If this is the case, you're much less fortunate as these adapters are more rare and significantly more expensive.
You need to do some homework though; the VGA output (which your monitor should still have or you can get an extremely cheap adapter for) is capable of carrying an HD signal (720p , 1080p) and realizing any difference between this and a digitally supplied HD signal is darn near impossible. If you don't have an HDMI output on your Xbox, you may just want to go with the VGA output option. -

and will a dvi adaptor actually change anything, other than the plug (as in how good it looks) -
so is that ebay one going to be as good as the real one?
