So. My xps m1730 arrived two days ago (I got the geforce 8700m gt instead of dual 8800's - upgrading later), I install world of warcraft today and.... 6-8 fps? Installed the new drivers.... and now it hasn't went over 7. I'm lost here, anyone have ANY idea why this is happening? I haven't tweaked/reinstalled vista/done ANYTHING with this laptop since I got it, except for installing WoW. Downloaded 3dmark vantage... and it crashed. WTH. Installed rivatuner/gpu-z and my gpu is running at 49-55c. Does the 8700m really suck this bad? From the reviews and such I read, I heard it could run WoW with maxed out settings and still get 60fps. Any ideas? Got the intel 2.5g, and 4 gigs of ram btw. Thanks for any help.

    edit

btw, those frames are on the lowest possible settings - anything higher and it just freezes

What drivers do you have installed and are you overclocking?

Update your drivers: Go to www.laptopvideo2go.com go to the forums section and download the latest drivers (the download area is not up to date go to foruums). Remember to use the modded INF. There is a guide here aswell.

Also make sure Vista is set at Perfomance

Don't be surprised if you lack performance in other areas. Drivers from laptop2go... often fix one area and screw others. For example, you might be enjoying WOW at 80 FPS but 1080p films might be like powerpoint.

When I recieved my laptop from Dell I had the same problem. I also had other problems with my laptop running programs and being able to install some things. I finally got sick of it and did a clean install and had no more problems. (except I didn't like Vista after all so I once again reformated and installed XP).

That is not in question here. I simply stated that if one day he wants to do something else than WOW and it is choppy, he should know why.

Yeah, I'm going to do a clean install tomorrow and hopefully no other bs problems pop up. If they do, I might just shelf vista for awhile and toss xp on here.
