    y is it impossible to change video cards in notebooks?

    Well, not impossible, but pretty much-5% of notebooks can be. Well, usually its either the GPU is intergrated or it is tighly fit and no better card will fit in the case exeppt the one it was desinged for.

    they are usually soldered to the motherboard.thats y

    Not totally impossible. About 97%.
    Some notebooks have GPUs soldered onto the mainboard, other GPUs are MXM type,meaning they are user upgradeable,think plug n play :D
    It all depends on the type of the laptop,bust mainstream ones from HP, Dell, Acer,Toshiba are very likely to have soldered gpus...whereas new Clevos like the D901C and te M570RU have upgradeable GPUs.
