zombie panic! source

anyone mess with this game? i was influenced by someone who played it to download this mod but i was completely dissapointed. this game just seems so empty and boring.. unless im missing something? just lookin for opinions on this mod with left 4 dead coming out

 

I tried it, then immediately uninstalled it. Didn't like the pace of it, zombies too slow to get to someone before they kill you and it's really empty. Overall, not a bad concept, but since it's a mod it doesn't get the attention that it needs to be a real game.

 

So is the game still worth it according to the demo?

 

This game is AMAZING. I honestly was looking forward to Left 4 Dead but decided not to buy it because I honestly don't think a zombie survival game can get much better than Zombie Panic Source.

There are two keys to this game being fun.
The first is to play the objective gametype. Survival is fun, but it quickly gets stale. Objective forces teamwork and keeps the game moving (survivors tend to all go to one room and camp the doors in survival).
The second is to play with friends, or at least make some friends in a game and play with them. I found that if I was playing objectives with people who knew what they were doing and had good communication, I had an EXCELLENT time. Sometimes late at night when no friends were online, I'd jump in a game and get frustrated because no one would listen and I'd be the ONLY person doing objectives (and some objectives require more than one person to complete, IE someone holds down a switch to stop a fan while another person climbs through the vent with the fan in it).

Give it some time, play some ZPO_biotech or ZPO_subway, they're two awesome maps. Tanker is kinda a bad map IMO.
Man see, now I was gonna go home and play some Left 4 Dead demo but now I wanna go own people with the magnum in ZPS.
I guess my opinion of the game is slightly skewed because I'm pretty sure I was on the top of the scoreboard every time I played... hmm...

 

Zombie Panic is one of the best games ive ever played
we play it every day with my friend its amazing

objective maps are more fun, like zpo_subway but survival maps like zps_cabin are great too

this game is way better than Left 4 Dead imo

 

This game is poop.

 

This game is pretty fun. The pace is a little slow, and the only problem I see with it is that on the ZPS maps it's far too easy to camp in a single room making the whole game less fun. Overall, I think it was done well, it's not a game for everyone, but the ammo conservation part is what really makes it more fun. Most people I've played this with started it up, and immediately said it sucked after turning into a zombie. That makes me think that the zombie part is what turns people away from this game.

Anyone else's opinions?

 

ZPS is only good at lans.... online it sucks

 

i play zps online and on lan, its fun with 20 people on the map on a small map like cabin

being a zombie takes more skill and strategy, like making the survivors waste their ammo by strafing and retreating while you heal; a good zombie ambush is deadly

i think its an insult to even compare this game to left 4 dead

 

YOu can really compare a FREE MOD to a $50 FULL GAME ....

 

some mods are really excellent. you CAN do this.

 

everyone has their opinions, ZPS is a pretty terrible game no offense, it has nothing on left 4 dead.

I used to play on a Zombie Survival Thai server (mod for CS:S) where players would find places to camp and survive till the time runs out, or kill or the zombies. I really loved it, but somehow I just didn't like Zombie Panic Source as much.

In servers with a huge number of players there aren't enough weapons and ammo. It's also really hard for a newbie to pick up ZPO maps because they are completely clueless about what they are supposed to do. You are told to go to 'Find the Key', and you are like wondering, 'Where the heck do I start looking?', and 'What the heck am I supposed to do with it if I ever find it'?

And while you're looking for it you end up getting killed by a Zombie. It's really really frustrating when you are given objectives but you have no bloody idea what's going on.

Also, it's boring in ZPS maps when there are no lives left, one zombie, one human, but they are both too chicken to come out and fight. Then everyone has to wait for like 5 freaking minutes.
