Hi was on my way to getting a new Asus laptop when i stumbled over this gateway on newegg. Its labeled the M-5861 which when i type in google only links me to newegg ( even in google.com/shopping). Seems like newegg added their own components into this laptop and gave it a different name. Does anyone know what the chasis for this model is, and if there is a review on it anywhere? For $850 with max memory, a core 2 cpu, a 250gb hd, and ati radeon 2600 hd gddr3 i think its a really good deal. Here is the link..

If anyone has any extra inormation about this laptop feel free to talk about it. Thanks.

The price is pretty good. It looks like the mid-end version of the $1200 one with the 8800M GTS.
But damn, that's a damn good deal. 512MB GDDR3 HD 2600, 250GB HDD & 4GB of RAM. -

It can be a tad more difficult to find drivers and certain programs may have compatibility issues.
It's been getting better though.
To be accurate, 32 bit can use 3-3.2+ GB of RAM. -

64Bit is also a bit faster than 32Bit since the CPU can run in full "64Bit mode", to put it in simple words.
But the difference is so small that you shouldn't really care and some older programs are usually more compatible with Vista 32Bit since they were made to support 32Bit drivers and sometimes Vista 64Bit doesn't handle these 32Bit drivers very well. -
If you get this notebook make sure you write up a review and share it with us.
It used to be available at BB with the same specs (except 3 GB ram). This is not based on the 6831fx as a previous poster suggested. It is a smaller form factor. There is an X3100 based verion that goes for $699 I think.
Sharp little machine. -
So will i have a a lot of issues with a 64-bit system? or is it pretty minor... Really the only older games I will play is Warcraft III, Starcraft, and Counter Strike: Source. Anyone know if these will work? It will pretty much be a no go if they dont.. -
I did a quick google on Starcraft and Warcraft III and there seems to be issues with Vista x64. You might want to do some more digging. -

I was also able to run CS:S without any problems but I can't comment on Starcraft because I can't find the disc and I am to lazy to look for it
Vista 64-Bit worked like a charm with all the programs I've tried so far:
Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Crysis, Warcraft III, CS:S, Oblivion, Call of Duty 4, Bioshock, SOF3 (needed a patch), Portal, Flight Sim X, X-Plane, 3DMark06, Firefox, Skype, Sniper Elite, etc...
Popular games usually have a strong community behind them that creates patches, fixes and tutorials in case there is a problem or incompatibility issues.
I wouldn't worry too much about installing Vista 64-Bit since 64-Bit is the future and upcoming programs will surely be compatible.
Hope this helps -
