Hii Guys,
I play games STAR WARS THE FORCE UNLEASHED at highest resolution 1920*1200 with my P7811FX and highperformance on vista power management..
The first 15-20 minutes the games framerates seems normal but after that it looks like the framerates is droping into about 5-10FPS so it not fun anymore..
I suspect that the heat on this Notebook might automatically underclock the GPU and maybe the CPU clock too..
Am I right?
Because I play without NB cooler and I live in tropical country..

Sounds like the problem to me. Clean out your notebook, apply new thermal paste and get a good 17 inch notebook cooler.

See the following thread for how to disable the throttling:

It's easy.
I can help you if you want. -

Yes by design notebooks will throttle themselves to not "burn up" if they get to hot.
There is alot of hot hardware in those small boxes.
Try to download HWMonitor and see what your temps look like on idle and at load. This will tell everyone if its a heat issue.
If you live in a tropical envrionment and its hot there (plus the notebook heat itself) you might not want to use moral hazards method of stopping the throttle, as if the temps are honestly getting high then killing the throttle might burn out your notebook (HWMonitor will tell us that though)
Some simple things you can do have already been mentioned. Get a notebook cooler and that will not only elevate the laptop to allow it to breath better but will give better airflow to help cool everything -

Yeah that will eleminate the stuttering for you its the best work around anyone has come up with.
Just be sure its stuttering because of a TZS0 fault instead of your system actually overheating before jumping into the fix.
Sometimes the stuttering comes from thermal overload caused by something as simple as not cleaning your system. So its always better to look for all your other options first -

Follow the guide attached to this post untill step 7:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showpost.php?p=5637589&postcount=9
Now when you get to step 7, download notepad ++.
then open the asl file with notepad ++.
you then need to change the throttling trip point.
I can help you with this if you upload your asl file to this thread.
This is how you should change the code, search the ASL file for the name "PSV".
It should look like this:
Code:Method(_PSV, 0x0, NotSerialized) //passive cooling trip point { If(\ECON) { Store(0x20, \_SB_.PCI0.LPCB.EC0_.TIID) Store(\_SB_.PCI0.LPCB.EC0_.TSP0, Local0) } Else { WBEC(0x1, 0x20) Store(RBEC(0xd0), Local0) } If(LOr(LNot(LLess(Local0, 0x80)), LLess(Local0, 0x1e))) { Store(0x5a, Local0) } Store(Local0, PSV0) Return(0xe93) //here I changed the passive cooling trip point to e93 (hex value for 100C in tenths of degrees kelvin) }
Return(******)
to:
Return(0xe93)
once you've changed the code. continue following the guide ^^ from step 13 to step 15.
I can change your code for you, just upload your asl file to the thread.
That should solve your problem.
But make sure you watch your temps and keep the notebook cool.
Since without throttling, your notebook will get a bit hotter. -
Wow..
As long as it normal, may be I should leave it like that.
I dont dare to do the steps you guys told me as I am affraid it might burn my Notebook..
I think I better invest a good NB cooler.. and not to mention that I live in tropical country.. thing hot here..
Oh yeah.. I got a 12cm external fan its 12W directly plug in to 240V of electric socket (no adaptor AC to DC here) so.. where do you think I should place this fan? Under the NB or next to GPU exhaust?
Thanks for the support guys -
What you should do is undervolt your cpu to cool off your temps. There is no harm in doing this. There is a huge thread under the hardware section, I will grab it for you. Its very easy to follow step by step but takes some time. My temps were at 80 degrees on load earlier tonight, now they are around 65 and I am not even done
. 15 degrees is HUGE.

Here is the thread I was talking about. It tells you the exact programs to use to monitor your temps, the program to use to max out your temp and a detailed list on how to lower your voltage. It's a GREAT idea!

Thanks Mate..
Cpu not really my concern, but the GPU does..
Maybe I should search how to lower the GPU temp, maybe lower its Volt or Clock would help..
Anyway, thanks for the tips mate.. -
It actually could be a memory leak as well... I noticed the same exact problem while playing and I would restart the game entirely (while still having about the same temps from before) and it would play well again for a little while until some action in the game started stutering again... its probably the programming sequence is not very efficient
[ASK] could heat slow down the performance?
