OC
seems that's as far as mine can go up to.. it seems 1gb version of 9800m gts doesn't oc as well as 512mb version of 9800m gts found on p-7811fx.![]()

Still very impressive! Can't wait to finally get a new CPU.
-
Did you try Undervolting?
mine benefits big time with UV. -
undervolting didn't help me much. it dropped little bit of temperature but at the same time, performance drops too. mine don't have extreme temperature problem like yours so undervolting seems a waste.
my cpu idles at 30c after 30 mins of booting and loads at 70c after hours of
prime95 test. as for tzs0 and tzs1, they idle at around 47-ish and go up to 81c max only when i am doing hours of torture test with prime 95.
my cpu temperature usually go up to 55 to 60c at max and tzs0 and tzs1 temperature go up to 72c max while playing games like crysis for hours.
so why undervolt? during web surfing or watching movies, cpu temperature stays under 40c and tzs0 and tzs1 stays under 50c. =) -
shin, try this.. Configure and run RMClock in the background.. you're looking good as is. But, use RMClock and try a run with the clocks at 698/998/1798 and see what happens. Also some video drivers are more flexible for overclocking.. some not so much. you should be able to push yourself past 11k with some effort. just gotta spend the time toying with clocks, and different drivers.
I always had the best luck with these drivers, scored 11,274 with my x9100:

Give em a go and see if you have any luck. -
I had Xfastest 177.85 also and it was the best for getting highest benchmark scores.. Maybe I'll install that again..
-
i just tried that driver and it gives error on boot. like some dll couldn't be found or something.. =(
also what good does undervolting do for gpu overclock?
i know it slows down x9100 since it doesn't support x.5 speed but
what other part do i need to adjust to OC gpu higher? -
With UV, my computer runs lot cooler all around average 10c lower..without fan. Also, my GPU never exceed 70c with OC and my CPU never go more than 55c. What I found was that with UV I could OC GPU to the max without overheating issues.. CPU runs cool enough to give GPU more room to OC.
Run msconfig and disable NVxxx.dll on startup..
It's because 177.85 is from desktop driver. -

I found the performance for gaming with the xfastest 177.85 was definitely lower than more recent drivers. but apparently it was super quick for benchmarks. quality is just not there for gaming...
-
Yup.
Just like what Mormegil83 wrote..
I wouldn't recommend 177.85 for everyday gaming..newer driver runs more stable for me. -
I guess it was only possible with XP..
I got 11034 pts on 3DMark06 @ 1280 x 1024
I couldn't believe it !!Attached Files:

I stumbled across this forum and i am in need of some dear help. A couple of months ago i purchased the Gateway p-7805u FX laptop and based from the reviews I had great anticipation for the system. When i got the system home i was happy to see i had received one of the few 1900x1200 versions that some were talking about in the forums. However i was not ever too impressed with its gaming ability, and had for the most part began using it for mostly work and school. After a recent Steam holiday sale i kinda went to town and bought a few games... more like 10 or so.
But by this point the performance of the machine had become extremely bad to the point where games like Burnout Paradise city, Team fortress, dragon age and even indie games like Thrine or Mr. Robot were seeing some terrible frame rates, sometimes to the point of unplayability. For Burnout, Dragon age, street fighter, and battlefield 2 i had all the graphics turned down low and was still getting terrible frames, to the point of not being able to play at all. And im not really sure why.
Well i just finished reformatting, updating drivers, updating windows, and reinstalling all my software. And the games are now running much better but still much lower than i believe is correct. I cannot play Burnout or GTAIV at their lowest graphic settings without experiencing terrible choppiness and general unplayability. Now from what i have been reading and seeing this does not seem like it should be the case. I read somewhere in this discussion, i believe, that a standard unmodified P-7805u should get a 3dmark06 score of about 8000 give or take a bit. Well i just ran my 3dmark06 and sad to report that i received a 3954. Which i understand is pretty bad.
Can anyone help me out by confirming that a 3dmark score, at the base settings 1024x768, should be around 8000 or closer to the 4000 that i am receiving. And if anyone has any suggestions about anything at all then please dont hesitate. One key note is during the 3dmark testing the CPU testing was seruiosly like 0 frames a second slow. I am a sad, non-practicing gamer turning to your help in this forum, so any advice or comfort one can provide is greatly and seriously appreciated. Sorry for the long post. -
Go to Power options in
Control Panel
--> Edit Advanced Power options
--> Under PCI Express, LSPM, select "off".
That should solve your problem. -
sorry for resurrecting this thread but i was shocked to see that 11K 3DMark06 score was such a big deal. mine is 11108 and i thought that was horrible. but then again, im just a newb with an 11K score. what do i know? lol

11k is very possible. You just gotta push your hardware
