YEP---I had the chance to chat with Gateway live help---hmmmmm...

HERE IS MY PROBLEM: I can't seem to be able to get the mic on the webcam to work... Gateway live had me install nvidia driver 1.0.0.23... After I installed the driver the red light comes on when i record speech but with the volume all the way up for the wcam and set at 100 on the taskbar i have to put my ear by the speaker to hear the play back... Is this normal???

I have vista hp x64 if that matters... Anyone have a fix ???

Also---what is this gateway Big Fix ??? Good to have or bloat ???

    Thanks for help in advance...

Go to Start > Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Sound,
click Recording tab, mark Microphone, click Properties tab,
click Levels tab and adjust microphone and mic boost to
the max, click Advanced tab and check both Exclusive Modes,
click OK. Should help, in my case it did.

If you don't like Big Fix...uninstall or remove it from
    startup programs in Defender.

    Cheers...

YEP---I decrapified the big fix and kicked it to the curb...

THX---I ran pcdecrapifier and took care of the "big fix"... If it's as good as the Gateway live help i figured it was about worthless...

As for the mic problem I got it fixed as you explain above but I just right clicked on the speaker on the right taskbar next to the time... The speakers are real loud now but in a low quality way... 5.1 external is on my list...

Yea... the speakers are crap in Gateway notebooks, that's the fact.
I use headphones most the time, when listening to music.
