I have two problems with my p6860 is on battery.

    1) Whenever I turn up the screen brightness using the function key and the f8 button. It randomly changes back to a dimmer setting.

    2) When the battery runs out instead of going into hibernate mode it just shuts off. Other machines I have used in the past usually do something other than just dieing.

Had anyone else had these problems or know of a way to fix them.

    Thanks

Try adjusting the advanced power settings:

Start -> control panel -> Mobile PC -> Power Options -> Change Plan Settings (of the plan you're on) -> Change advanced power settings -> Display (to adjust your screen settings) or Battery (to adjust what it does when the battery runs out).

The Display section may or may not help with your display problem. I'm 99% sure that you'll find the battery section helpful.

i think the fn+f8 button is supposed to just switch between the highest and lowest setting. To go by each setting use fn+arrow keys.
