Yeah, I've only had this laptop for 2 weeks and I'm down to my last 100gb. I'm surprised by how fast you can fill up a 320gb laptop when you're playing games on it. Do you guys suffer from this problem?

I have a 160gb hdd in my other laptop and I never got close to filling that thing up, it's got to be the games.

Anyway I was going to wait to buy a 2nd hdd until December or so but with the ebay cashback now isn't a bad time to buy. I was able to get one new for:
    $79.99 free s/h
    -$24.00 cashback
    ------------
    $55.99 final price

Now I just have to decide if I want to wipe everything out and set it up for raid 0 or just use it for additional storage.

Yeah, I've only got 30GB left on my desktop (320GB total). I'm not going to lie; 20 GB alone is on custom Sims stuff. :p

See, it's the games! I like having my games with me for when I'm at work! Screw solitare! I prefer Warhead over Windows games.

I'm not too excited about wiping out the hdd and setting everything up again. I just got things perfect :/

Today's games can take anywhere from 5GB to 20GB depending on how expansive it can go with add-ons or saves, etc, etc but you'd have to have 10 to 15 large games or more for it to be gobbling up that much space.

If you haven't taken control of your shadowstorage config (system restore points), you may want to check that out. Here are the steps I used in case you don't know:

Start > Run > < CMD>, vssadmin list shadowstorage , This will list your existing pile of System Restore Points. Seriously, I wouldn't think anyone needs more than a couple of these for restoring, hopefully. But Vista will keep stacking them until you hit the preset number. My laptop was set to 55.4GB... jeeez, get real MS or Gateway or whoever.. heh. At any rate, after a month of ownership my shadow-storage total was over 42GB...and I only had 6 or so games installed which should only have taken up at the most 39GB yet I was down to my last 70GB of storage or so. At any rate; I used this command to set my limit and have not had a problem.

    vssadmin Resize ShadowStorage /For=C: /On=C: /Maxsize=3GB

For further study on this here is the link where I got my info:

    Hope this helps

I easily have that many games on this laptop already. I also have a few seasons of different tv shows but I delete them once I watch them so that's just temporary.

Thanks for the tip. I have system restore disabled, I use Acronis.

i guess i must be sitting pretty with 500 gb usable space even after installing raid 0 and....wait for it. 25 games!

but then again i do transfer a lot of....to my external drive, which is quickly running out of space.

I'm transferring a bunch of files to my home computer right now. I'm planning on building a new system and converting my old QPack into network storage. It fills it's hdd's fast because of it's DVR duties and it's set to the highest quality setting. I like to have a lot of shows recorded because I'm able to stream them at work :D
