    Hello,

I spent about 5 - 10 hours trying to fix this with the help of a few forums here and there. Big thanks to EscondeR at tombraiderforums
    Here's the post
    http://www.tombraiderforums.com/showthread.php?p=2014309

Anyhow, the problem was I purchased a new harddrive, 160gb seagate, and I downloaded all the drivers off the gateway support site. I typed in my serial number to get the Drivers thinking there would be no way of a screw up.
Anyhow, turns out gateway provides the wrong driver for this. So I was pretty confused, and after using everst and other programs to see what kind of audio I really have.. THinking it was conexant, ac'97, intel on board etc etc

In the end it turned out to be SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio. (as seen in the system devices)

Anyhow, solution is to use this driver for the sound card

I think he found it searching for hte M210 which is the same machine..

I spoke to tech support for ages and was almost thinking of purchasing a pcima sound card for 100bucks.. Thank god he figured it out for me!

So I just wanted to contribute to this community, and hope someone else who has the same laptop as me can find the sound card driver when he/she formats.
