After hastely installing Vista on my 6831fx and finding out that the dvds included with the $1500 laptop did not contain the .50 cent drivers and apps DVD I called Gateway back in the beggining of april to send me a new hard drive formatted to a factory install.

I got the hard drive in a week, but it was blank and they had said after I had called them, on a non toll free number, that you should be receiving the apps and drivers in a couple days.

Well 6 weeks later and still no DVD.

Anyone else experiencing this feasco of customer service?

    Ya I nuked everything

    (added 2nd 250gb HD for raid 0)

I Have gotten most of the drivers cant seem to get my vantec e-sata drive to work though

I wanted to get the big fix so it looks for updates

set up the recovery partition again and use the backup software.

Just be nice to have it so I can factory reinstall what even and when ever I want.

but the main point is that 6 freakin weeks for some dvd's .. outrageous

I did the same thing. I bought a 6860 for myself and one for my little brother when they were on sale a few weeks ago. I poached his hard drive and installed it in my rig to set up RAID 0, then installed a brand new 7200 rpm Harddrive in his rig. Unfortunately I thought the included DVD was an image, and now both my bro and I are screwed. No E-sata for my either and a bunch of my drivers are 32 bit, not 64.

Gateway says the DVD is on backorder. I guess thats what I get for being hasty, but damn if its not taking forever. If anyone wants to post an image somewhere, if its legal, you would make my day.
