Alright, this seems a bit complicated.... please bear with me for a second...

My computer seems to work fine... HOWEVER, three times now, I have left my computer on overnight to do stuff (harddrive intensive stuff). I wake up to find the computer must had crased shortly after i left it. When I find it, it is in a cycle where you hear it spin up the cd drive during the boot, a pause, the hard drive click hard, then a pause and the cd boot again... it repeats... as soon as i open the lid the computer seems to work fine. The problem I can only make happen after it runs for a few hours with the lid closed.

What do you all think? Is it overheating (strange boot cycle though), I am not sure... i sure would like not to return it (its a hasle), not sure how concerned i should be... as i said it works perfectly otherwise...

    appreciate the help!
    Thanks,
    Rick

Did you take a look at temps? You can get a temp logger when you leave it overnight.

well as soon as i open the lid it fires up fine, once it fires up i load up speedfan (not sure that this is a good program as i have seen others say that it reports temps10deg low). It is not more than 50C (core temp, according to speedfan, through the cpu usage gaget for vista).

I will definitely load up a temp logger if one is suggest and accurate for this machine!

    thanks again

I have two of my Lappys hooked up to exturnal monitors and keyboards, when a reboot and leave the lid down the same thing happens, I have to open the lid until I see the windows boot screen.

guess it isnt just me. I changed mine so when i close the lid it goes to sleep, when i walk away i just push the lid almost closed. It works fine this way. Thanks for letting me know I am not the only one!

beat crysis, what great graphics! Will have to get and put on something else... havent gotten to it yet though.
