Anyone know if it would be possible to upgrade the 6831 with one of the p8400 chips?? I would think it would be possible since they are both Socket P processors, but wanted to check before buying it. Thanks

As far as I know, no. P8400 is a Montevina chip which is incompatible with the 6831's Santa Rosa platform. You're better off trying to get a T8300 or T9300.

The processor socket changed, so Santa Rosa gen processors are the only option.

A T9300 will give you comparable performance to a P8400

A T9300 will give you better performance than the P8400, albeit not a huge amount and it will run a bit hotter.

I didnt say it was too hot, I said it will run a bit hotter than the P8400, which has a 25watt TDP. The T9300 is actually a very good balance between power and performance.
