    Hi I've searched and came up with nothing..sorry.

    Is there a guide on here for installing Linux on a 6860 FX? If so please include a link to the thread. Thanks.

    I pretty much just installed Ubuntu on my 6860. There weren't many problems at all.

    About the only thing i couldn't get to work was the media bar. I probably could have gotten it to work, but i so rarely use it that i never really cared enough to work on it anymore

    I installed Ubuntu 8.04 on my 6860 about five months ago and it was a pretty straightforward process, out of the box I had working wifi, sound, bluetooth and gpu drivers and after a few updates I had a fully functional machine .

    The only reason I took it off was because I don't need Linux and Vista HP 64-bit is awesome :D

    How were you able to get the media bar working if you don't mind me asking?

    I loved ubuntu but it didnt support the RAID set up we have (that i could tell) So if i could get teh media bar and RAID working i would probably switch back.

    Our systems are powerful enough that with virtual machines and WINE i can pretty much play all of the games that i normally play, so it would be nice to not have to worry about anything and switch back.

    Did wine really work that good for you? I remember trying to use wine on my old Fujitsu-siemens laptop, and it didnt really go as I had hoped (mind you, it was a much weaker system than my current 6860fx)... But is that really what determines the quality of gameplaying on ubuntu? I just figured, that wine would never get close to playing games with Windows.

    Between WINE and virtual machines i ran pretty much all the games i normally play.

    I rarely play top end games like Crysis, so i never had a problem. My biggest games are Dawn of War and NWN2... so i generally have no problems.

    With higher end games i dont know how well it would all work though

    Out of curiousity - have anyone tried playing high-end games on linux? Such as Crysis, CoD4, etc.
