I know that RTS games are significantly processor heavy. When I play starcraft 2 online I get notices sometimes that my computer is slowing down the game for others. I've tried lower settings but I was wondering if upgrading the processor on the 6860 would make a decent enough change.
It seems like other wise the 6860 with it's 4gb of ram and geforce8800 is probably doing fine. The bottleneck I assume is the 1.8ghz dual core processor.
Anyone have any info on this subject while pertaining to starcraft 2 specifically.
Thank you,

Yeah you need a new processor. RTS games specifically are cache heavy during the massive battles. SC2 is also poorly if not at all optimized for dual core processors. And if your processor has the 667MHz FSB then that is probably hurting your FPS too. My P8400 with 3MB cache, 1066MHz FSB and 2.26GHz clock runs the game very well. The best CPUs you can buy are the X9000 (ultra pricey but has unlocked multiplier) and the T9500. And if you go with a cheaper processor you will still notice a huge difference.

Ok i will keep that in mind. yes probably I will buy a cheaper T9500 if I upgrade the processor. I'm glad we can upgrade processors in these machines and the video card and memory are still pretty good. I've had this computer a couple years now and it's not really outdated yet.
Will be better with a new processor.
Yay gatewayI love you little thousand dollar laptop. such a good buy
edit: this t9500 is 2.60, 800 fsb with 6mb cache. That's quite an improvement! o.0 - about $250 too it seems. Not bad. -

I forgot to mention the T9300, which is virtually the same as the T9500 except clocked at 2.5GHz.

I'm running a 6860fx with a t9300 and getting low to none lag at ultra settings.

oh thanks for the tip. I will look into that too when I get money.

I don't get the prices of these CPUs. On ebay they're so variable. Sometimes there's a used one for $100 more than a new one. And the T9300 seems to be about the same price as the T9500. Weird.
Also, anyone know what SLAYX is? A lot of the auctions have that in the title. Ty -
SLAYX is the code for the OEM version.

I got t9300 if you're interested
