Ok so i was working today on my gateway and the screen just went black.
the lcd does not even turn on cause you can notice when ti turns on and off. i tried removing rams cmos battery unplugging it turning it on without battery and still nothing.
my specs are down. as for the past it worked just fine i played games without a singel problem and worked in gentoo for some time. i dont know if is the gpu, the chipset or the cpu. i dont have my old t5550 with me to give a shot and see if cpu is messing around, so i have to wait and see.
even if i remove both of rams it does the same, no beep nothing. the fans are spinning and they spin the same way as they did before when it was working
i just dont know the screen just went black while reading and now i cant thing of what it is.
i remember when i changed the CPU my screen was a bit messy i had some resolution problems but i just removed the battery and left it wothout power for like 2 mins and it was OK.
the only problem that i had was the one when i changed the cpu and the thermal paste of gpu cpu and chipset.
MORE TESTS
there is no external monitor that get the output out and everything heats up as it should. it something does not work it usually wont heat up that much as i know, i might be wrong thought and when it boots the NumLock turns on but i cant turn it off neither other buttons i cant turn them on or off.

im suspecting that is the chipset no ran no beep :S im just wondering
-
I think I'd try reseating the CPU.
-
ok i will give ti a shoot now
-
nope still the same, i dont have t5550 with me now to test it :S
-
well i saw some thermal paste on the small thins on the cpu diods ow what ever they are. i just took it off with screwdriver and now it works. i left i on then it turned of and then on again an boom im now back on track. i have to look for a thermal pad tomorrow and remove idc7 since it lookes very dry and sticky compared to the paste on the cpu.
i have slo noted higher acpi temps so i guess that might have caused something. oo yes i alos pushed the chipset towards the motherboard just in case if there is any crack in the bga.
hope we wont have more problems with pc before laptop 4 days before uni starts -
I thought ICD7 was supposed to be completely non-conductive.. You sure you didn't get fake ICD7?
-
i guess yes i did.
I will play tomorrow and i will post my temps. i might change it and go for another thermal paste but i need to find a thermal pad for the CPU or i need to do a copper mod. Im ant greece now and i have to look for one. i believe i can find one.
so far its good only the temsp are a bit higher cause i did not changed the thermal paste. just to test it a bit more. playing rage its ok but i had a BOSD with hal involved.
to me it looks good only the temps at acpi are like 85-75 most of the time when i play and idle like 50-45. when i compile with gentoo at 10 to acpu and cpu it might to at 80 with 5 degrees difference at stock clock and voltage.
6860 black screen and wont work
