Hey all, I have been trying to use my webcam + built in mic talk to friends and family but my mic seems to not be working. I know the simple solution is to use an external mic plugged into the Line-In and that does work, but I'd like to use my built in Mic on the top of the screen since that is easier for me.

The problem I get is that the mic is too quiet for windows to recognize when I try to set up the mic in windows. And also anything people can hear comes out just as static and they cannot understand me.

I have the microphone boost setting up to the max (have also tried medium). At most I can get a very slight recognition in windows when I talk loudly, directly into the mic with my lips near the webcam at the top. This is not a good way to have a conversation. :p

Here are some of the settings I've changed:

Control Panel : Sound : Recording : microphone array level set to 100/100.

Control Panel : IDT Audio Control Panel : Recording, Microphone array bar maximized.

Like I said I've also changed these to medium and then nothing comes out at all, not even the slightest.

Is there another setting I can change, or tell IDT Audio Control not to handle the array mic, or windows not to, or update to an improved driver over the default? The line-in works fine if I use an external microphone and this computer is stock software, minus uninstalling some bloatware.

The other threads on this subject said they had a non working mic completely and reinstalling windows worked to fix it. This is not my problem so I don't want to try that extreme solution.

Perhaps this mic is just entirely too weak to be useful? :(

    Thanks all

I don't think the problem is with the mic itself, as when mine worked it was almost TOO loud. Try going into the classic view control panel and going into "Sound" and adjusting things there, and try adjusting your output volume on the program you're using.

Can anyone link me the drivers for the integrated mic? i just fresh installed and forgot to add them to my disk :[
