Hello peoples.. My 6860 actually started to turn on..after all the water damage that was caused.. lets just say 3 feet deep of water and the computer was turned on at the time It fell.. but after about 2 weeks it is now working..
The Good. : Processor is in great shape..motherboard, gpu, memory, hdd, speakers,, all the ports work very very well..
The bad : the screen has some water damage.. Very standable though.."for now", The Two fans.. dont work.. so now it is set up on a cooling pad with the bottom open so it gets cooled directly and the proc stays about 35C and HD 31C but the gpu is around 65-80C since I cant get that directly open to shove air on it.., The Dvd drive does not read at all. I believe its skipping or something.. and The Keyboard has a few missing keys and some are sticking..so I need a new keyboard.
My Project : is to rebuild this sucker.. if anyone can help me out with prices and sites for parts please let me know.
p.s. I am waiting on my 7801u to arrive![]()

I think this is the fan... http://www.laptoprepairparts.com/html/details.asp?ref=1122&category=fan
I don't if GPU and CPU fans are the same part, but you can figure that out by opening it up. As always, get the part number off the fan in your laptop and make sure it is the right one. -
Dude, Just to let you know, if you call gateway, and pester them about getting a new GPU fan, they will send you one....I am having problems with my GPU fan, aand I pestered them every day for a week and a half, and they sent me one for free (even though they recomend that you take it in to a professional to have it replaced....Pfft....Eff that)
6860 is ALIVE!
