Pretty much every LCD monitor has a 60 Hz refresh rate.

Some high end external monitors reach much higher refresh rates, but laptop screens generally cap out at 60Hz.

That's also as good as the smoother console games get.

So there is nothing higher? It's just capped out at 60hz?

If you can notice 60 frames-per-second, and it looks bad to you, then I don't envy your super-human videophile eyes.

High end HDTV transmissions don't go over 60FPS. While the human eye can see more than 60FPS, you're only going to see >60Hz in desktop monitors - and they'll usually be set to 60Hz at default.

Just because your gateway can render 120+ frames in DOOM, it doesn't mean it has to.

I have noticeable screen tearing during MOH:A with my 6860 but I don't really notice it in any other games.
