I just upgraded my 6860FX to two drives striped and the cpu seems to be running hot. The fan is always on now, and before it was not. Anyone else experience this after upgrading to raid?

No... i kept screwing up my array and it would self destruct before i quite messing with it and let it install correctly... but i've never had my CPU/Fans try to burn up due to it.

Have you checked if your just holding more CPU load now that the RAID array is active.

Also what is your CPU and what are your TEMPS?

    Have you undervolted your t8300?

It would have been something you manually did, so you would know.

    Do me a favor.

Pop the back and reinstall your CPU, making sure to reapply your thermal paste and not reuse the old stuff.

After that follow this guide to undervolt your CPU
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=235824

follow it to the letter though and dont skimp out on steps. It takes a while but its well worth it. My X9000 runs at the idle temps you have now due to a good undervolt and never gets above 60-65 in either core

You should be able to shave off 10-15 degrees on your temps on the t8300

I will give that undervolt a try, I set it to 1.100 w/auto adjust and did a successful 10 min stress test.

you should be able to keep going lower than that. i have a T9300 and my max multiplier is sitting at 1.05V with my 6x to 9x multiplier at 0.95V. my idle temps are around half of what you posted your temps were. undervolting is definitely worth it. and like kamin said, dont skip steps, especially the 2 hour stress test on your multipliers. that will let you know if you have a stable voltage or not.

Do you need to have the application running for it to work. I set the profile to run on startup but not the application. Will this still work, or do you have to check the "run at windows startup" option under settings??

When I get time I will get more aggresive with the settings, I just started with a safe setting to see if I like it.

you need to have the application running in order for the voltages to apply. having the profile load at startup refers to loading the profile at application startup.

and if you like a cool running laptop, trust me, you will like it.

Thats very weird....I have a T9300 and just raided 2x 320gb drives np... and the only thing that seems to have heated up just a lil are the harddrives them selves... but that is expected with Raid 0
