    6860fx bios update with new cpu ?

    i have just ordered a new intel t9500 2.6ghz cpu from ebay and would like to get all the facts right before i install it...

    when i put the new chip in , will the bios update intself or will i have to do something manually? :confused:

    I'm pretty sure you don't have to do anything with the BIOS.

    I don't know if you need a bios update or not. I would suggest to test the T9500without a bios update. If it doesn't work then put back your old CPU and upgrade the bios. It is preferable to upgrade the BIOS under DOS as it is safer then doing it under windows.

    i didn't upgrade my bios and my X9000 had no problems.

    hello all just an update ....got my chip 2 days ago from china as promised and intalled with no flaws and my 6860 now runs like a dream ...thanks for all the support

    if you upgrade from the stock cpu then the performace increase is going to be really be good. i have the t8300 on a 6831 that just broke down.
