    hello all,
i'm going to buy a 6860fx here soon and i want to upgrade to a t9300 after a while. My question is how much do you think is a good price to sell the t5550 cpu for?

    Thanks for the feedback.

Eh, if you do intend to sell the T5550, if you have any warranty issues, you will not be able to send it in for repair without the T5550.

If you have read around, you will notice that while changing the CPU voids the warranty, there's not much of an anti-tampering sticker on it. This means if you kept the original CPU, you could fix it back in and send it in for repairs.

Hard drive upgrades do not void warranty.

yeah, i think i can vouch for that one as well...considering how many best buy employees upgraded this laptop (not mine but their own) and pretty much said that memory and hard drives don't void the warranty (but i still got my cpu) and im pretty sure no one really wants a t5550 unless they are that someone that upgraded and sold theirs . and now they need it for warranty purposes.....

    Two things:
    1) While not a bad CPU, the 5550 is pretty much the bottom of the barrel. there are only 1-2 CPUs below it, so selling chances will be low anyway (and if it does sell, it will be for pennies).

    2) As others have said, while it "voids" your warrenty, if you do it right, the upgrade would be unnoticed (or if noticed, not cared about), and you would be fine. The future potential warranty value far outweighs any money made in the sale.

Also - RAM and HDD upgrades do not void warranties, as they are user changeable. But again, if you do run into issues, save your originals, and you will still be set.
