    TV is a 42 Dynex
Using the VLC Media Player to play the movie

control panel >Hardware>sound>set NVIDIA HDMI output as default

reload the application and it just work fine. you need to do the same thing with headphones and other things :D

i'm not sure the gateway website support is retarded and not very useful since it doesn't say anything about HDMI audio only connecting vga/dvi/hdmi for video source

right click your volume icon in the taskbar, click playback devices, set the default as 'Digital Output Device (HDMI Out)' and it should work.

my 360 has audio/video perfectly with hdmi so it's not from the TV. is it possible that it's an actual malfunction on my laptop?

try reinstalling the audio driver, I know some people with the 6830 had to do that because vista would for some reason only use the MS driver.

    http://support.gateway.com/support/...udio Driver Version: 6.10.5939.0&uid=21955441

Those drivers worked for me i had the same problems i reinstalled and windows installed some bs drivers that just supported audio playback, no other features.

They install the hdmi in the playback devices, and the idt audio control panel which is very important too. The control panel though is different from what i had stock on the computer, but i think its better, i think it also added hdmi audio support which i believe i did not have when i first bought the computer.

Hope that helps. If that one doesn't work try this other one

    http://support.gateway.com/support/...udio Driver version: 6.10.5713.0&uid=21955446

Check your part number found on the back of the computer.

also, it may not install if you just click on setup

But open device manager click on sounds and properties for the device then click update driver and point it to the location you saved the drivers at, and it will work.

    Good Luck
