Hey everyone, I just received an Intel® Core2 Extreme X9000 SLAQJ SLAZ3 Socket P 1066Mhz, and exchanged it with my T5550. I oriented it correctly, and made sure the pins were straight, and that it wasn't damaged. When I turn the laptop on, it starts, but won't boot up. Is there something I'm missing, or do I have a faulty processor. Please help me out here..if I exchange this thing I have to pay for shipping (again).![]()

Are you sure its a X9000? it should only be a 800Mhz fsb. Is it a SLAQJ or a SLAZ3? What does it say on the cpu itself?

I am certainly no expert on this ( or much else cept making love) but I did a lot of research on upgrading my 6860 to a faster chip ( have not done yet) and I know that you CAN NOT use the 1066mhz chip with the 6860. Must use the one that is 800 mhz

Alright, so i'm pretty sure they sent me the wrong processor. I just looked up a picture of what it looked like and it doesn't match. Considering I bought this from this here:
Intel® Core2 Extreme X9000 SLAQJ SLAZ3 Socket P 1066Mhz - eBay (item 150450564225 end time Jun-11-10 23:30:33 PDT)
..i think I could have been given a fake or something, or hopefully just the wrong chip.
Here's the chip that was shipped to me:

If this looks familiar, lemme know. -
Is that a sticker on the bottom of your cpu? Also you put way too much thermal paste on your cpu.
Yeah he sent you a ES CPU when he listed it as OEM. I saw that exact EBay link you posted and noticed it wasn't a SLAZ3 or a SLAQJ. You should have posted here before you purchased it. It is a X9000 so it should work but I'm guessing it has something to do with that sticker or what ever it is on the bottom of the cpu. -
yes, for some reason there was a sticker on it. Would that really make a difference, since they don't appear to be contacts? I tried to remove it, but i dont know the best way of going about that. Thanks for the heads up on the paste. Also, another reply said it would not work with 1066mhz, so although this is an x9000 it wont be possible (to get it working), correct?

The X9000 SHOULD be a 800Mhz CPU so it should work. That ebay seller lists his X9000 as 1066Mhz for some reason.

moral hazard Notebook Nobel Laureate
I think it's just a T9600 with an unlocked multi and meant for the montevina platform.
With the 1066mhz fsb, it wont ever boot in your notebook so I would just return it (don't take the sticker off).
EDIT:
lol replied to wrong thread, supposed to go here:

Your answer fits this thread moral hazard.
A Q4JJ Engineering Sample translates to a T9600 with a 1066 FSB. I saw that ad too and was shaking my head. I knew something was not right. The problem is that CPU-Z is not always accurate at reporting ES CPUs. The X9000 in the Name box up at the top is its best guess and that guess is wrong. The 266 in the bus speed confirms that it is not an X9000.
6860fx with x9000 won't boot
