Looking to do a clean install on my 6860fx, I have the Gateway OS disk, I also have a copy of Vista 64-bit Ultimate. Question being, is the Gateway OS disk full of bloatware? I can definitely use my Ultimate disk instead, but I would like to keep it for a future build i'm currently working on. But I only want to use Gateway's OS disk if it's going to actually give me a clean OS install, only Vista, not all the other junk.

    Thanks in advance.

Any restore disk for any brand of PC contains bloatware. Use the Ultimate disk if you don't want the bloatware, but then you wouldn't be able to use it on your future build and it may or may not lack a few drivers (like, say, the webcam) but I am sure that you can find those on Gateway's website.

It's the restoration disc that has bloatwares, not the OS disc.

the p series really doesn't come with that much bloat ware to begin with... if you uninstall norton, bigfix, and like 2 other programs. it runs fine. i clocked a 3dmark score of 10600 and it played games fine and load times are basically the same as now. the real bloat ware comes when we start installing our own stuff...lol

Is that a "system restore" disc or an OS disc that came with your gateway? because i know mine came with a 32 bit vista OS disc that did a clean install, but other people have told me their gateway came with a system restore disc.

if its really a OS disc it will be clean install.
if its a system restore/backup disc it will have bloatware.
