I have an almost 5-year-old Gateway 7246GX laptop, with Windows XP SP3, and recently it started doing this. I know people have had this problem before, and I am using CPUPegger by fishfry as a workaround, but it doesn't always work, as tonight it shut off while CPUPegger was running. So, since the threads in 2008, does anyone know any other fix/workaround for this problem, or what the root cause is?
