I have a gateway 7422gx gateway laptop. I don't remember if it was like that before but the lcd latch does not automatically lock after closing the lcd panel. i have to manually push the latch to the left to lock it. Is this normal ?! I'm not too sure but i'm remember from before that all i had to do was close the lcd panel and it would automatically lock with the spring latch.

i've checked the spring latch and everything seems fine .. it's pops correctly and doesn't seem to be stuck.

i've checked the two holes to make sure nothing is inside that could have gotten the latch stuck and there seems to be nothing inside!

    somebody help!!!

Nah, that's not normal. Did something happen to the screen (ie accidental damages)? Debris blocking one from closing in the hole on the armrest?

Something's definitely wrong. Maybe a warp/ obstruction is causing this?

mmm... i finally figured it out .. i have to push the lcd panel in towards the back of the notebook or towards the hinges for it to snap ... but when the lcd panel is fully open and i try to push the panel down in the same direction i don't see it moving in ... seems like some kind of eye trick ...
