This is what I got off my recovery CD. It is a little sloppy but what do you care, you got the drivers now right? All I ask is that you guys help me keep the site up-to-date.

    Sound
The only sound drivers I've found so far are the OEM ones that optendo so nicely has provided on his page. As for 64-bit drivers I'm still lost. I've gotten the newest realtek to install and also a packaged ati sound driver from an ecs motherboard site but nothing seems to work. The conexant AC-link chipset has to work on xp pro 64-bit some how. I'm still looking any info appreciated. The driver I thought should work is here. http://64.124.27.138/ecs/driver/mb/beta/ATIVGA.zip

Nothing on the smartcard reader drivers still?

Have any of you tried drivers from the 7422gx?

Like this one for the Memory Card Reader...

the 64bit drivers are great, thanks for collecting them for the post...

If anyone can give me a hand, I'm still not getting the audio, the ATI drivers just aren't doing the trick for me, any special steps I'm missing getting it working?

    Thanks in advance.

    Cheers.

not usually a big "bump" guy, this has really got me stumped, if I leave the computer long enough to go on standby, the sound works when I restore it, until I reset, and then the sound stops working again.

    Any help?

Alksolo, actualy my laptop is doing exactly the the same as jazzrich9's. If I let it go into standby or tell it to go into standby the sound works. When you first boot the laptop the sound dosent work as soon as you come out of standby it works. Maybe you should give that a try and see what happens. I have no idea why if anyone has some ideas let me know.

    Thanks

I'm actually kinda thrilled that this is a repeatable problem, I kind of got a little pushy with gateway today but no avail... I mean, I understand that you don't officially support 64bit, but this is clearly a very specific identifiable and fixable problem, and the only thing that needs to get fixed in order for people who want to take the initiative to have a working 64 bit notebook.

alright, enough of the rant... hopefully someone will figure this out soon... anyone flash their bios yet? make it less limited than choosing boot order? is there an available flash?

My experience, everything from alksolo's list works in 64bit... just not the sound at the end.

This soundcard is really a weak link... I tried an install of suse64bit, and ran up against the brick wall of the soundcard once again.

still hoping someone figures this out so we have some way of getting a working 64bit system out of this thing :)

not in 32bit... works like a charm...
64bit, we haven't gotten it working yet, but I think it's probably not far off.
It's a great laptop, way more power than it should have for the money... these 64bit issues will probably get resolved soon. Particularly if MS starts leaning hard on companies for vista.

    just my thoughts.

I just plugged in my SD card I just bought and it worked with no drivers needed to install, I am guess there is no need for drivers.

Does anyone else have SM Bus Controller in their Device Manager that isn't installed?

Thanks Pulp, I used the ones from the ati motherboard section. They seem to install just fine for me.

Pulp, did you install the whole driver package from ati's site or just manually install the one for the SM Bus Controller via device manager?

I added the drivers I used to my page!

I installed just the one. I'm a bit ambivalent about the whole driver package since the 7510GX doesn't use IGP (though that IGP may be responsible for the 128MB of HyperMemory).

If you dont have a 64 bit operating system, i.e. xp pro x64 or server 2003 x64 then you dont need to bother downloading the 64 bit drivers.

Everything runs great except for the sound. THe sound just wont initialize on boot up, BUT if you goto standby then back VIOLA the sound is back... Im not well educated on what happens for the suspend feature but its definetly an interesting reoccurable problem... As for ati's main drivers they work great with the notebook with no issues, i can use the card reader w/ out drivers... Just a nice note i ran doom 3 all maxed out at 1024x768 with no slow downs... then i dropped the rez to 800x600 and it was even sicker... GOd bless 64 and Gateway they have a real winner!

Doom 3 maxed out at 1024x768? Really?

I get it playable at 800x600 medium, and it's completely unplayable at 1024x768.

    How'd you manage that?

yeah I've got that, it's a very solid box at 32 bit, and really I don't even have that many apps that are 64 bit ready, but I am kind of a freak, and I have this whole other partition that is patiently waiting to go the 64 bit route.

but I think the driver set that you put together on your site is impeccable. Thank's a million for hosting it.

In the Catalyst 5.7 control center i maxed everything out, then went back and selected app control for all available items. In doom im running 1024x768 Ultra, w/ out AA, I run 800x600 Ultra w/ 4x AA no problems 8x slows just a tad.... I have to say gateway outdid themselves on this notebook. BTW has anyone come close to figuring out the audio driver situation. Does anyone who is running x64 and has working bootable sound (ie i measn from bootup your sound works, not the standby restart) have a certain way they installed the drivers? ANy particular order, or slight variation on audio drivers... Maybe we could put our heads together and get someone to do something about this.
