I just noticed it yesterday. Thinking it was just me but today it started to flicker again, actually 3 times it did it. I just wanted to know if anyone else has a screen flicker?

Yeah, a LOT of the Arima based Gateway/eMachine laptops do that. Search this (Gateway) and the Emachines forums on this board and on NotebookForums for a bunch of info.

I know but not this model. I had bot the 68xx model and then traded it in for this one. Now I seem to be having some of the same issues. I just want to know if anyone with a 7510gx has had the same problem.

I just started having the same problem a couple of days ago. Does anyone know the cause?

For what it's worth, though, the problem is easily remedied by dropping the brightness one setting. But that still doesn't actually solve it. :|

Let me ask something here: could it be a power issue?

When you turn down the brightness one notch, the display uses less power.

So, when you have the panel at full brightness, when does it flicker? Does it flicker when you are running at 100%? It could be that the display can't get enough power.

It actually is a power issue.

What's happening is that there's a loose connection into the inverter in the panel. This page explains what the problem is and how to fix it. It's not easy. :|

I was able to take mine in to get it repaired, and they just plain replaced the notebook entirely. Waiting to see if it manifests in this new one, too.

I bought it at Best Buy. The flicker started about a month and a half after I got it, so I brought it in. Since it was still under manufacturer's warranty, the manufacturer basically said "that's too expensive to fix, screw it, give him a new one."

    So they did. :)

No, we call it "DEVO" and basically like pulp said they jsut straight up give you a new one in the store, my modem on my 6805 got hit with a surge s month after purchase from BB and i brought it in for repair and i walked out with a new 6810 :)

As far as the screen flicker.... I actually saw that happen on the display as i was showing it to a customer... i was baffled and had never seen such a problem, it flashed like 3 times that i noticed that day but never noticed it at a later date so i dismissed it.

I went to the store with the problem and the guy said they have to mail it out like 3 times and all the jaz, before I can get a new one. I can't be without my laptop for over a month, I am in college studying computer engineering. Any suggestions of what I should do?

Well if you send it off they will fix it. I mean its up to them but sometimes like in my case and pulp's case, they just replace it straight up if you havent had it for long, but that depends on what the company's policy is with that product, most are service... chances are you will have it back in 7-10 days if you mail it off, or just wait till you have a fall break from school or something and you wont be needing it as much and send it of then, i mean its a flicker

lol they will fix it... your funny man. I had the 6810 emachine (same screen flicker) and they mailed it out 4 times before they let me pick a new laptop. They won't fix it.

"fix" is a matter of what service will do, I had the screen crack problem and they put an entire new screen on it for me, cant argue with that.

    START
    CONTROL PANEL
    DISPLAY
    SETTINGS tab
    ADVANCED
    POWERPLAY tab
uncheck ENABLE POWERPLAY under "POWERPLAY Settings"

    Does this fix it?

No. It's not a software issue.

There's a loose connection in the LCD panel that causes it.

Yah power play doesn't change it. I have not had it flicker for almost a week now. I am guessing that the wire fell back where it isn't being crimped. Also I took a compress air can and cleaned the fans of some dust that could be holding heat and causeing problems

Well you guys seem to have been luckier than me. I'm not sure if the entire gfx card went bad or if my wires just pulled completely loose but I lost all ability to see anything. Took it to best buy, and unlike you lucky guys, I've only had mine for 2 months and they shipped the **** thing off =\. I feel Optendo's pain as I too am an engineering student who feels like my right arm has been cut off. Does anyone know of any problems related directly to the x600 or any other problems with their Gateway 7510GX?
