I just purchased the Gateway 7510gx from BestBuy this weekend ($1249). I made my backup cd's and proceeded to install Windows XP pro X64 edition. Thanks to others on this site I was able to get all the drivers installed except for the sound. It will work only after putting the system into standby mode and coming back out of that mode. I decided to give Gateway a call and see what I might find out about X64 drivers. I explained how I installed X64 and was having a sound card driver issue. The tech I talked to was amazed that I was able to get X64 installed and running on the 7510gx. I asked if Gateway was working towards developing drivers for Windows X64, he replied probably not. He was able to give me some specific info about the sound card and thought I may be able to find X64 drivers. He said the sound card is manufactured by Conexant and is called the Smart AMCI audiomodem codec CX20468-31. The web site is www.conexant.com. I checked the web site and didn't see any drivers for this card. Does this sound like the correct audio card? Has anyone had any luck getting the sound card to work under X64? Please respond.
