So I'm pretty confused as to which bios to upgrade my p 7811fx to. I was looking though the sticky, but to be honest, it quite convoluted. The original post's links don't work and i don't know if its up to date.

so here's my questions. What is the best bios to update to, where can i get them, and do they allow for overclocking?

    thanks

and someone really ought to get a nice updated sticky on this

1.) No bios by default alows for overclocking on the P78xx series CPU's.
2.) 9c.17.00 is the best low temperature bios. above seems to just pulse the fan less by alowing the GPU fan toggle temperatures to be higher.
    3.) Gateway P78xx driver search
4.) any bios alows through software overclocking of the GPU, none have locked this out.
5.) you can through software now overclock any extreme series CPU..............

Throttle Stop for the Extreme CPU's and nVidia's system tools for the GPU

If you have the Extreme series CPU, IE X9100, then UncleWeb created a program ThrottleStop

If you don't mind the fan pulsing then 9C.17 is best, if you hate the fan pulsing and have a cooler then 9C.20 might be better for you. If you game a lot though (especially older 3D games) 9C.17 will still be better than 9C.20.
